Music:"I Forgot To Remember To Forget", Elvis Presley
In recent times I have read about Alvin Karpis ("Ray" to his mates, "Creepy" to the fuzz), who was the real brains behind the Barker-Karpis Gang in the 1930s, bank robber, kidnapper, cop killer, last surviving Public Enemy Number One and Alcatraz's longest-serving inmate. I understand there have been several films made about his contemporaries such as Bonnie and Clyde, Pretty Boy Floyd, John Dillinger and Baby Face Nelson, but are there any about Alvin Karpis? It would be both an irony and a shame if there are none, considering his story is probably the most interesting. Or does his long life and survival skills fly in the face of the conventions of the gangster film?
